This whole mess started when my good friend Dr. Rose convinced me to buy an old red-label Yamaha FG-110 at Atomic Music in Beltsville, MD. I started playing solo shows again in the Spring of 2019, and found that it was refreshing to write smaller songs - songs that weren't meant for pounding drums and mountains of distortion.

This album has been on my mind for a while now, and finally I just had to sit down and make it. Dr. Rose also found a Tascam 414 for dirt cheap, and it was a miracle the thing still worked. I owed it to him to make a record on it. Dr. Rose, I hope you'll take this as payment.

Thank you to the people who have been in and out of Jim Shorts for the past few years: Roddy, Jarrod, Evan, Charlotte, Mike, Britt, Maddy, and Robbie. You all changed my life in big and small ways, and these songs wouldn't be what they are without you.
